so he obviously does inspire some fans to spiteful vitriol after all

Re: OBIANG
Manuel - tiop bloke - whilst recovering from his bad injury he used to regularly appear by the tunnel during the warm up and sign stuff and pose for photos with a handful of kids - sometimes going 'off piste' from duties with sponsors to do so. Seemed genuinely happy to be doing so, always carrying himself with a lack of 'the big I am' when engaging with all.

Zaba and Antonio are others - Wiltshire and Carroll are not.

If not under rated then definitely under appreciated...………..by some.

Re: Obiang
I thought he was a decent player but he just wasn't the type of player we needed him to be so he looked out of place/too laid back most the time in our team.

If we had a more gritty player alongside him I do think he could have developed into a great acquisition.

One of the best to wear the shirt.

In terms of our Spanish born players.

Top bloke - What does that really even mean ffs?

Under rated player - No he isn't.

Re: OBIANG
Too inconsistent, ball watched too much sometimes, just all round not good enough for more games than he was good

Don’t hate him just didn’t want him playing any longer

Was one of our better players for a while, then got injured and never really was the same.

I don't think anyone positively hated him. He just wasn't one of our best players, but a very decent bloke.

Jacob Steinburg did an article on him doing a Poli Sci degree.

But I did one and look at me.

Re: OBIANG
I liked Obiang. Could do a little bit of everything but not outstanding at one particular thing.

The problem in the end was that he wanted to go for the last year or so, that's not any good for anyone.

He seemed to give the ball away a lot towards the end and not wanting to be here would be a massive reason for that happening.

I'm sure he always tried his best, but if your heart isn't in it, form will suffer.

Pretty sure he was doing a degree while in London.

Re: OBIANG
God knows. He was a good player and we were a better team with him in the side. That being said, if you’re part of a midfield partnership with someone who’s shit doesn’t stink, then you have to be the scapegoat I suppose.

"By footballer standards, was a Hawking level intellect."

May very well be.

I do remember seeing one of those talk about your teammate interviews with one of our players and they answered "Who is the smartest?" with Pedro.

When asked why, the player (honestly can't remember who) said he has glasses and he carries books around.

To be fair, I don't follow anyone on social media save friends and family so maybe he says intelligent things on there.

Re: OBIANG
Maybe the glasses explain the misplaced passes.

Re: OBIANG
I thought he was a classy passing sort, but a few rungs below elite level.

Inevitably meant that for every 10 tidy passes he'd give the opposition the ball in the final third.

Was very weak for his size and the defensive side of his game was definitely not his strong suit.

Remember when we first signed him and he just didn't get a game for months. But saw him in the tunnel (from my sofa) geeing up our players and looking like a general good egg.

Screamer against spurs.

By footballer standards, was a Hawking level intellect.

Wish him very well.

maybe the haters wasn't on here it may have been on social media, but he didn't seem a popular player, I liked him

Re: OBIANG
Always thought he had a bit of class coming from spain but just never really showed it consistently

Remember one glorious pass he played through to i think Caroll against southampton, but also remember plenty of misplaced passes to go along with it

Re: OBIANG
Never really seemed to get a proper run in the team in a settled formation/role. I was shocked at how many appearances he’d made when he left. There’s only so long you can keep a player as backup before they want more so don’t blame him for going
